You should contact your NAS provider for an update to the NAS software. The minimum size of the prime is increased to 512 bits to improve resistance to numerical methods of attack. DHCAST128 is deprecated and replaced by Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange 2 (DHX2). DHCAST128 is often used by NAS boxes, mainly because it has fewer overheads. Apple has disabled AFP support for the Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange (DHX) Protocol ("DHCAST128").AFP servers must support the Netatalk v2.2 protocol or later to work with Monterey. I have a very old AppleShare IP (ASIP) server but can no longer connect to it using the AFP protocol. I have a NAS drive but can no longer connect to it using the AFP protocol. I have a NAS drive but although I can connect to it I can no longer use it as a Time Machine backup destination. In Finder go to the View menu and select "Show Path Bar" and/or "Show Status Bar" as required. Yes - Monterey switches these off by default. My Finder windows used to show the number of selected items, disk space left and/or the path for selected items at the bottom. To see the old style view, go to File menu > Overview tab > System Report… button or alternatively hold down alt and select "System Information…" from the Apple menu. System Profiler has been renamed System Information and it opens from the new simplified window. I don't like the new Apple System Information view. Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Keyboard > Text tab > untick the "Correct spelling automatically" option in the top right. I don't like the new system wide text "Auto-Correct" feature. Alternatively if you like the feature for some applications but not others, in those that you don't want the feature you can alt-Command-Quit (Quit and Discard Windows). Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > General and tick the "Close windows when quitting an app" option. I don't like the system "Resume" feature. (for trackpads) click on the Trackpad icon > Scroll & Zoom tab and use/don't use the "Scroll Direction: natural" option.(for mice) click on the Mouse icon and untick the "Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling or navigating" option.Scrolling appears to be the wrong way round. Maybe by version 3 it will be what it claims to be, that tends to be the mantra for Microsoft products anyway.MacOS 12 Monterey Post Install Frequently Asked Questions FAQ Article ID = 267Īrticle Title = macOS 12 Monterey Post Install Frequently Asked Questions FAQįrequently asked questions after installing macOS 12 Monterey macOS 12 Monterey Post Install Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) I really was expecting Apple quality in an Apple program. No revolution, no innovation, just a late-to-the-party product that was rushed out without forethought. The new iMac G5 is touted for its nifty remote and this nifty program called front row.īut in the end they just put an IR receiver in the imac, shoved some remote control bits in an ipod shuffle case, and hacked up a front end to the same old apps they ship on all other macs.Īpple hasn't cared much about the media center market, though they claimed to be the digital hub, so the real question is, why the rush now? So, on the whole, I'd say Apple jumped the gun on this one. What's the point in opening this to play a DVD when DVD Player does it and gives me so much more control over the experience? If it is going to just be a front end they shouldn't try to hide it, it's just ends up being DVD Player Lite. * The DVD feature is merely a front-end to DVD player, not a DVD recorder. Perhaps it pulls this from your quicktime settings, perhaps not. The interface completely stalls while it downloads posters, giving no indication of what's going on, there is no option to set your desired trailer bandwidth ala low, media, high. * The Movie Trailers feature, which is essentially a front-end to apple's quicktime movie trail website, is poorly design. * The List font size is not adjustable, it gives a huge chunk of un-used space to the left of text, the result being that most of the entries in your playlist, movie list, whatever, end up getting cut off. iTunes, iPhoto and the rest should merely be interfaces to this framework, and Front Row would as well. If apple truly wants to enter into the media center paradigm they needs to write a media center framework and API that all software developers can access. And when you exit its shiny feature-thin interface, it leaves these programs running. It's merely a front end to iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, and DVD player. I haven't experienced any out and out crashes with it, but it has frozen up inexplicably alot, sometimes it unfreezes in a bit, sometimes not.
